Hali Fliegelman
Predictions:
1. After Election Day, I predict the Republicans will have control over the Senate with 48 Democratic Seats and 52 Republican seats. This is my prediction because there are currently 10 states leaning republican, while only 4 are leaning democratic. In addition, there are currently 5 toss-up states that I believe will vote Republican for a number of factors: the high foreclosure and unemployment rates, overall dissatisfaction with the Obama administration and disapproval of government spending.
2. There are currently 109 seats in play for the House of Representatives. Of these seats, 28 are leaning Republican and 39 are leaning Democratic, while 42 are toss-ups. If 218 seats are needed to hold a majority, I believe the Democrats will maintain control over the House with 221 seats (leaving Republicans with 213) because they already have a very strong lead, which will make it unlikely for Republicans to overtake the House.

After the election, I predict that in the U.S. Senate the Democrats will hold 48 seats and the Republicans will hold 50 seats.
In the U.S. House of Representatives, I predict that the Democrats will hold 190 and the Republicans will hold 245.
My prediction are substantiated with the Democrats losing momentum in previously Democratic states. There is an unwavering turn against Democrats because a lot of people are losing faith in Barack Obama’s administration. People are looking for an alternative which would be voting for the Republicans.

For the Senate I predict Democrats will hold 47 seats, Republicans 51 seats, and Independents 2 seats
For the House of Representatives I predict Democrats will hold 212 seats and Republicans 223 seats
Republicans are creating a sort of conservative backlash against the size and control of the government, it’s just a matter of how big. Due to miscommunication, healthcare changes, high unemployment rates despite the stimulus package, and policies toward illegal aliens it is clear citizens are unhappy with the Obama administration. The advancement of the Tea Party movement is making it clear Republicans are expected to gain a simple majority in the Senate and a majority in the House of Representatives.

My prediction for the Senate is for Democrats to give up many of their present seats as follows: 51 seats for Republicans, 49 for Democrats. (59-41 for Democrats as it stands now)

(1) Currently it’s 59-41 Democrats to Republicans, with 17 and 18 seats open in each party respectively in the Senate. The Democrats will lose major ground but will hold a slim majority, losing 8 seats to fall to 51 seats while the Republican party will gain 7 of those seats to increase their seat total to 48. One independent will win a seat in the Senate.
(2) In the House of Representatives, the Democrats hold 255 seats going into tomorrow’s elections and the Republicans hold 178 seats. Republicans will make up quite a deal of seats in the House (if the Tea Party is included without the broad spectrum of the Republican party). In the end the House will flip to the Republicans by a count of 221-214.
